Byron Auguste is Managing Director of [email protected], a civic enterprise based in Washington DC, which aims to re-wire the U.S. labor market in ways that enable more Americans to achieve upward mobility in the workplace.
Prior to co-founding [email protected] in March 2015, Mr. Auguste served for 2 years in the White House as Deputy Assistant to the President for Economic Policy and Deputy Director of the National Economic Council, where his portfolio included job creation, skills and workforce policies, investment, infrastructure, exports, and the services sector.
Until 2013, Mr. Auguste was a senior partner at McKinsey & Company, leading McKinsey’s High Tech Services sector from 2002 to 2006, and its global Social Sector office from 2007 to 2012. Prior to McKinsey, he was an economist in international trade, global commodities markets, and development at LMC International, Oxford University, and the African Development Bank. He was a co-founder and chairman of Hope Street Group, a non-partisan, non-profit organization which engages a national network of business executives, professionals, and entrepreneurs to develop and promote economic policies to achieve equality of opportunity in a high growth US economy. He holds a B.A. in economics and political science from Yale University, where he was chosen as a Truman Scholar, and a M. Phil. and D.Phil. in economics from Oxford University, where he was a Marshall Scholar.
