Demographics cannot be altered by policymakers, but having a handle on the trends and their potential impact in terms of innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation should allow policymakers to put in place the proper frameworks
Demography, they say, is destiny. While reality is not that deterministic, it is undeniable that demography is driving pressure for innovation and job creation across the world. Demographic trends are one of the few indicators that allow us to peer into the future, at least a short-term future. This paper looks at various demographic trends and using lifecycle analysis from economics to look specifically at the implications for entrepreneurship in developed and developing nations. Demographics cannot be altered by policymakers, but having a handle on the trends and their potential impact in terms of innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation should allow policymakers to put in place the proper frameworks to manage such changes.
